Verre et Lumière 160 cm Wear and pitting A student of René Gabriel and a leading figure in French design in the 50s and 60s, Michel Mortier embodies the French modernist movement with his taste for simplicity, noble materials and clean lines. Designer, architect and decorator, in 1954 he co-founded the Atelier de Recherche Plastique (ARP) with Pierre Guariche and Joseph-André Motte, pioneers of avant-garde furniture. Elegant in its slender proportions and refined in its use of metal, this model is emblematic of French design in the Trente Glorieuses period.
